Paducah School of Art & Design

Paducah, Kentucky – McCracken County

Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc. and Marcum Engineering, LLC provided the Structural, and MEP engineering services for this restored 33,800 square foot facility for the Paducah School of Art & Design. The building is located in the Lower Town Art District of Paducah, Kentucky, and consists of a rehabilitation and restoration of a pre-twentieth century building.

Mechanical work included all new sprinkler and plumbing system. It also included a VAV HVAC system with high efficient boilers sand split system condensing unit. This building contains a commercial Café and therefore typical kitchen systems were provided. The entire facility has a DDC control system for monitoring energy management, and maintenance of HVAC and lighting systems.

The electrical work for this project included the installation of a utility transformer and new service/switchgear. Lighting for the facility will be primarily high efficient fluorescent with several types of LED lighting. All lighting has occupancy controls for compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code. Special systems for the building include: addressable fire alarm, CCTRV, VOIP, wireless access, messaging wall monitors, public address, and door access controls.
