G.C. Burkhead Elementary School

    Elizabethtown, Kentucky – Hardin County

    This new elementary school is an energy efficient, modern education technology facility.  The facility was a new build on a new site and consists of classrooms, media, gym, cafeteria, kitchen, and administration offices.  The facility features a contiguous mechanical platform so that all systems are installed on a second level for ease of maintenance and convenient future upgrades or replacement.

    Mechanical and electrical features of the project were:

    • Ground Source Heat Pump HVAC System
    • 2 GSHP Dedicated Outside Air Systems with total energy recovery
    • Efficient variable pumping system

    • Web-based DDC HVAC control system
    • 2,000 AMP power distribution system
    • 150 KW standby emergency generator
    • Efficient T-5 and LED lighting systems
    • Addressable fire alarm system
    • IP Public address system
    • Video Door Intercom systems
    • Sound systems for both Gym and Cafeteria
    • Clock system
    • Door access control system
    • IP CCTV system
    • Complete voice, data, and wireless access system with VOIP
    • 4 post-enclosed data racks and wire rack cable tray systems
    • Classroom educational sound enforcement systems
    • Short throw projectors with IP video distribution system
