Geospatial Survey Technician

Paducah, KY, St. Louis, MO or Cape Girardeau, MO

Bacon, Farmer, Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc., a regional engineering firm, is currently seeking a Geospatial Survey Technician, with a focus on mobile and static LiDAR and 3D modeling, to work out of our Paducah, KY, St. Louis, MO or Cape Girardeau, MO office.  This is an exciting position for the right person to join a team of enthusiastic professionals at a full-service engineering and geospatial firm that designs infrastructure and large sized development and transportation projects.  In addition, the position will allow the individual to assist in the continued growth of the line of service.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Included, but not limited to, terrestrial, mobile scanning and UAS flights for data acquisition, conventional survey field collection, along with data reduction utilizing Trimble field hardware and Trimble office software and drafting 3D topographic surveys
  • Other projects include ALTA Surveys, Boundary & Right-of-Way Surveys, Surveys for Ground Control Establishment, Static and mobile LiDAR scanning, UAS aerial data acquisition, Topographic Surveys, Hydrographic Surveys, and Right-of-Way and easements plat preparation.

Primary Qualifications:


  • 3 to 6 years field and office experience in route survey projects, interior/exterior scanning, boundary analysis, and DTM projects with LiDAR data reduction
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and the Microsoft Office products; Microstation experience a plus
  • Knowledge of mobile or static LiDAR/3D laser scanning; scan to Revit-Recap type workflows are a plus
  • Knowledge of Faro static laser scanners and software and Trimble Real Works and Autodesk Recap software a plus
  • Strong listening, writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic and team-play attitude
  • KY, MO, IA, IL, IN PLS, or the ability to obtain would be a great asset
  • Previous experiences with assisting the preparation of proposals and estimates, searching record documents to obtain boundary/parcel information, coordinating surveys, preparation of data and creation of survey drawings/plats for topographic and boundary surveys a plus.

Wetland Delineator and Stream Assessor

Paducah, KY or Lexington, KY Location

Bacon, Farmer, Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc., a regional engineering firm, is currently seeking a Wetland Delineator and Stream Assessor for our Paducah or Lexington, KY office.  This person would be expected to perform wetland and stream delineations, as well as grow into leading and managing larger field efforts and work with other technical staff.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Conduct field work related to wetlands and streams, including jurisdictional delineations, vegetation community mapping and function assessments
  • Mapping wetland and water boundaries and vegetation alliances to sub-meter accuracy using a GPS or table paired with a precision GPS receiver

Primary Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or Geology preferred
  • 2 years of progressively responsible experience as a wetland and stream delineator preferred
  • Understanding of permitting and mitigation requirements for Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 401
  • Working knowledge of wetland and riparian plant species identification, wetland soils and wetland hydrology indicators
  • Rosgens stream training or other stream experience preferred
