South Marshall Middle School

Benton, Kentucky – Marshall County

The new South Marshall Middle School is located on US-641S and replaces the existing South Marshall Middle School a few miles south. The new facility can accommodate approximately 650 students and is nearly 100,000 square feet. The total cost of construction was approximately $17,500,000. Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc and Marcum Engineering, LLC. provided the Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Plumbing design as well as the Surveying, Geotechnical, Site/Civil and Transportation design services for this project.

The site was constructed in two phases, early site package, and building package. The early site package included mass grading of the site, which was approximately 130,000 cubic yards of excavation and preparing the building pad. The building package included construction of the building and all supplemental site improvements. New turning lanes on US-641S were constructed to support the increase in traffic with the new school.
